OUR THREE GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Vita Institute for the Arts

At present there are few opportunities for people seeking professional development opportunities in the arts that are not structured within the format of the contemporary University. Vita Institute for the Arts is organized around the principles of unrestricted and open inquiry that emphasize the development of the artist rather than adherence to some external formula required by agencies usually unaffiliated or unfamiliar with the demands of artistic practice.

Based on three essential principles the Vita Institute for the Arts is designed for self-motivated practitioners in the arts who appreciate highly individualized programs of study and inquiry. The programs and workshops are dedicated to the advancement of artistic vision, personal interpretation and skill development in a supportive collaborative environment.

Principle One:

Collaborative Education

Vita Institute for the Arts promotes an educational concept dedicated to the advancement of artistic vision, personal interpretation and skill development in a supportive collaborative environment without restricting the experience by either a university format or an artificial grade structure.

Principle Two:

Foster dialogue within and between artistic disciplines

The Institute emphasizes collaboration among visual artists, theater artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, poets, photographers, artists from all media and disciplines, collaborations that will expand and advance the dialogue within and between disciplines.

Principle Three:

Cultivate an Art of Personal Inquiry and Creative Expression

Provide participants with the time and opportunity to investigate, through personal inquiry and creative expression, her or his own artistic vision.
